Happy New Year

I know it’s late but happy new year to you!  I’ve had a great break and managed to spend quality time with family as well as with the new baby.  Thank you all for the well wishes.  He is fine and growing fast.

It’s now the 3rd anniversary of the blog.  I am amazed at how fast time has flown by.  Thank you for reading the blog.  I have many exciting posts (and things) lined up for this year.  I am looking forward to it and I hope you will keep reading the blog.

As for my hair, I had my last relaxer more than a year ago.  I choose not to relax my hair while pregnant.  I’ve managed to go so long between relaxers by doing protective styles (braids and cornrows).  When my hair is not in a protective style I do something really simple e.g. a bun.  I’ve been wary of post partum shedding.  I’ve been looking out for it.  It hasn’t started yet (thank goodness).  I do plan on relaxing my hair again, I’m just not sure when I will do it.

At the beginning of the year my hair goals for 2013 were to grow my hair to MBL (mid back length) as well as to practice more protective styling.  I really do not think my hair is mid back length yet.  I will know for sure when I relax again. I’m pretty sure it is full BSL (bra strap length) though.  As for protective styling, I definitely managed that with all the cornrows and braids I got last year.

I’m now back to regular blogging.  Please keep reading 🙂

    Hi Tendayi

Welcome back!! And congratulations on the new addition to your family.
I was on a one year stretch last year and my aim was to go from just below shoulder length to bra strap length. I achieved it!!!*screams* On top of that I have more volume than ever!
Basically I have a really good ‘braider” who braids without pulling my hair. I had braids most of the year.I washed (every week) and oiled with of coconut oil mixed with drops of eucalyptus and rosemary oil. Basically I followed your advice to the T. THANK YOU!

My goal for the year is to get to mid back length. I’m definitely going to try and braid in winter this year.

So here is to mid back length by year end?!!!

Hi, I’m Dineo. I wanted to know whether it was safe for me to use Soft and Fro Blow Out relaxer on my already Dark and Lovely relaxed hair. I’m now 11 weeks post relaxer and I want to continue for about 20 weeks. I also want to change my relaxer to Amla Legend.

Is All Of This Safe For My Hair?? I’m anxious about facing a setback.
    Thanks in advance. 🙂

I, not really understanding what you want to do Dineo. You want to use the Soft anf Fro at 20 weeks then next time use the Amla legend? There is no problem switching relaxers but kust remember to relax only the new growth to prevent overprocessing. Also follow instructions carefully. Remember relaxers are chemicals and if not used properly will damage your hair and even your scalp too.
